Aspen Evolution PFD Heading Lead/Lag

After we updated the software on our Aspen PFD to vers. 2.x, we experience heading indicator lead and lag like an old whiskey compass (~30 degrees). Aspen has suggested it might be interference near the magnetometer, but nothing but the software has changed lately and I’m sure I would have noticed this prior to the software upgrade.

Essentially, its not acting like a stabilized HSI, but an old mag compass instead.

Has anyone experienced this on their Aspen?

Im not sure what it costs you for a software update, but here we reload old if something like that pops up. Check again and if its clean Tell ASPEN to recheck their software.

Can you get the old version reloaded and refly ?

Good suggestion. The software upgrade cost us $150 (for the dealer’s time).

Cant hurt to ask him if they will do it gratis

There is a Service bulletin and calibration procedure to help remove some of the lead lag issues. I would do a double check on the hardware used to install the RSM and maybe change it all to brass like the new kits come with.
