Announcing PiAware 3! (Latest version: 3.8.0)

If you mean the gear menu on the My ADS-B page, the option is there. While I have not used this method myself, it should work.

Yes the gear menu. Giving it a try now. Will download the new Piaware version in case anyway.

Suggestion:

Make the “Web Interface: PiAware Skyview (requires local network connection)” link on the My ADS-B page to go to the #extended version of Skyview. It currently points to port 8080.

I used to upgrade from there, before switching to the re-image card method. The only problem I remember having in those days, was that sometimes I had to power cycle the Pi after the upgrade.

The rpi3b updated ok, but the rpi2b says:
“run-apt-get(30217): E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/https could not be found”
I’ll pwr cycle it and try again, if fails it’s easy to re-image the card.

That is what I did last night. I re-imaged my card.

After the upgrade I am seeing plots a bit further out. I was running the stock settings before and they stayed the same after the upgrade.
I am wondering DUMP1090 FA was tweaked for better decoding?

Hi ,
After upgrade,
i have no colors, no altitude, speed

I don’t know the answer, but I noticed that the version displayed on the top right corner of Skyview is different than mine. What is 3.6.2~bpo8+1? Mine says 3.6.2 only.

Also, did you check the gear box to see if the settings there have changed?

Just updated one of mine. Skyview reports 3.6.2~bpo8+1 however on the FA site under my own Feeder Type: it shows PiAware (SD Card) 3.6.2 .

Try a CTRL-F5 page refresh.

many thanks, it 's ok i can see colors, altitude, speed now

Before upgrade, on top-right of SkyView: 3.5.3
After upgrade, on top-right of SkyView: 3.6.2~bpo8+1
What is ~bpo8+1?

Looks like bpo8+1 refers to a Debian Jessie backport.
Ref: overview

Additional info here: Instructions

One major difference: Jessie and Stretch

(1) Upgraded by command:

    sudo apt update
    sudo apt upgrade
  1. Checked Piaware version, it is 3.6.2~bpo8+1

  2. Checked OS version, it is JESSIE

    cat /etc/os-release
    PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie)"

(2) Upgraded by re-imaging

  1. Checked Piaware Version, it is 3.6.2
    There is no ~bpo8+1 after 3.6.2 (please see screenshot below)

  2. Checked OS version, it is STRETCH

    pi@piaware:~ $ cat /etc/os-release
    PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)"

Hmmm, After upgrade to 3.6.2 … VRS stops working

Any Ideas…?!

@bramjacobse,

Make sure the ports that you are connecting to are still enabled on the RPI.
netstat -an | grep LIST

They may need to be re-enabled on the RPI.
