Announcing PiAware 3! (Latest version: 3.8.0)

@obj
Welcome back!
Nice to see you in forum after a long gap.

where does one open the extended. Would just like to peek at it for giggles.
BTW 3.6.2 is working fine here. Running the Jessie version

Alternatively, you can repeat all of step 2 in the package installation instructions (mentioned in the release notes above), the important bit being to get the stretch version of the piaware-repository package.

.
Please see Post #1 of this thread …scroll down to Release Notes

And the //1.2.3.4/ is actually the IP of the Pi, if that’s not clear.

Adding “Read /Set Gain” to SkyView in new version 3.6.2 works fine.
Updated How-to for Jessie to include Stretch (Click Here).

Downloaded and wrote piaware-sd-card-3.6.2bis.img to microSD Card.

Noted in *bis release:

  1. In Windows, the name of microSD card is shown as boot instead of piaware.
    piaware-boot

  2. unable to resolve host piaware: FIXED in ver 3.6.2bis
File /etc/hosts now contains line 127.0.1.1 piaware

  3. formatting glitch on #extended mode, Nav modes field: FIXED in ver 3.6.2bis

Thats a nice feature, I hope that makes it into the next version release. Thanks for the update though just added the set Gain to my own 3.6.2 installs!

Yes that was clear, Works well. Kind of like it

The pasted screen capture does not have any info in the Nav modes field. Did you see one where the field had auto pilot info? That’s when it gets truncated.

Oh, I did not realize it pertained to auto-pilot.
Now I checked and found the glitch is still there in 3.6.2bis version

I’m on the original 3.6.2. is there anyway to update whats changed from 3.6.2 to 3.6.2bis without full re-image?

If your original 3.6.2 is running fine, there is no need to update. But to do so, without re-imaging, either do it from the My ADS-B page, or manually issue a sudo apt-get update, followed by a sudo apt-get upgrade command.

The only difference between the two images is the contents of /etc/hosts so you can just edit that by hand if it’s causing problems. The packages etc did not change.

Not a big deal, but it was a handy feature to display name piaware when microSD card was slipped into desktop/laptop.

Now it displays boot, just like raspbian image. Cant diffrentiate weather it is piaware image or respbian image unless folder /boot is opened and contents checked.

piaware-boot

This is a known server-side problem that we’re in the process of fixing. The data is being received fine, it’s just a problem with displaying it.

Thanks for the quick reply

Same problem here. Good to hear that you are working on it.

You can always rename the card to give a meaningful name.

As soon as I’ve burnt an image, I start to customize it. Once it has the UniqueID, the card becomes site specific, so needs a name to reflect this.
