American Airlines question

Does AA have a meal service in business class on domestic flights?

aa.com/homePage.do

Well played, Sir!

yes? no? AA.com is pretty clear about economy and first. Thanks for that.

yes

Would it make sense for AAL to have food in economy (even though the prices approach those of movie theatres and ball parks) and first class yet not have food in the in between class called Business?

Only a handful of AA domestic flights other than the JFK-LAX and JFK-SFO “flagship service” have business class anyway. 1xORD-DFW, 1xLAX-MIA and that’s it as far as I can tell.

As the previous post indicates, there aren’t many domestic flights that have a separate business class any more. For the vast majority of cases, you will be in the first class cabin on an MD80, B737, or B757. Here is the 1st class meal policy, straight from aa.com:
*Complimentary food service is offered in First Class on all flights systemwide that have flying times over two hours and that operate within traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner times. Generally, a snack service will be provided on flights greater than two and a half hours that fall outside of a traditional meal time. *

I have noticed an overall increase in quality recently. For most lunches and dinners, there are 2 entrees to select from. However, there have been a couple of flights on which one entree was so unappetizing that all of the alternative entrees were taken by the time the F/As got just past halfway through the cabin! If you don’t get a full meal, their sandwiches/wraps and salads aren’t bad. And the warm chocolate chip cookie or ice cream dessert are excellent. Not quite what was shown on Seinfeld, but pretty close.

Remember the acronym FEBO on American: Front rows in 1st class are served first on Even-numbered flights, Back rows are first on Odd-numbered flights. If you have picky eating habits, I would recommend packing some food just in case. It will also help during delays. Also, don’t forget that http://www.seatguru.com has a lot of this info for all airlines.

Well, I know that they would offer some sort of food service, if it’s free in first and available in in economy. I should have indicated that I wanted to know about free food service.

And that 1x MIA-LAX is what I am taking.

Thank you all.

If you booked online and if American is like other airlines, the reservation confirmation should tell you if a meal is available for free or for purchase.
