Air Canada to end Jetz dedicated charter fleet

#1

After the current contracts expire this year, Air Canada will disband the 58-seat Jetz 319 fleet, convert them back to standard seating then move the planes to Air Canada Rouge. Current contracts will be honored but only three teams are under contract for next year - Avalanche, Flames and Jets; guess AC will hope they find somebody else to fly on. Curious to see if Delta makes a move here, they already picked up the Maple Leafs and Raptors this year.

The Ottawa Senators are looking for a new way to travel to road games.

Air Canada is getting out of the charter business. That has the Senators and a number of other Canadian sports teams scrambling - so far without luck - to find another company to fly them to road games next year.

Air Canada spokesperson Peter Fitzpatrick said the company has made a “business decision to exit this segment of the market,” which it has been in since 2001, when the Jetz service was started.**
