I have several types of dongle about I could probably do some testing on, I’ve got a cheap 1090 cavity filter I was going to try with the RTL SDR v3 when it arrives.
Let me know exactly what you would like doing an I’ll see if I can do it for a fellow Martin

Hi dont know if this is the right place need advice how to keep ADSB dongle cool my flightaware Blue dongle cooked its self the caps and 2 chips below lasted 3 years
Bad design housed in plastic case no vents these are hard to purchase in the UK pi shop £52 i dont want to purchase another one just to last 3 Years?
I purchased a RTL Sdr dongle from RTL Website but its coming from China how do i setup the RTL one as the Flightaware was just plug and play in my Raspberry Pi 4 running piware if i got another Flightaware dongle if i open the case take the insides out how would i cool it?

Why don’t you remove the SDR’s internal board and screw it onto a heatsink? The setup would be: heatsink, thermal paste, 12 W/mK thermal pad, another layer of thermal paste, and the SDR on top (secured with screws).
You need to have some skill with a drill and a soldering iron. In the case shown in the photo, the tuner’s temperature stabilized at 44°C. The RTL2832U stayed at 42°C, and the heatsink reached 41°C.
The closer the temperatures of the ICs and the heatsink are to each other, the more optimized the heat transfer across the thermal pad/thermal paste interface becomes.

RTL-SDR dongles are plug-and-play because PiAware already comes with the necessary libraries for them to work; I believe it doesn’t matter whether you plug in a Pro Stick Plus, an orange Pro Stick, an AirNav, an RTL-SDR v3 or v4, etc.—it should be recognized as soon as you connect it.

If you are thinking about buying another Pro Stick Plus, it is available at PiHut. It is also available at some stores on AliExpress. The dongle is probably out of stock, but not discontinued!
If you live in the USA, you can buy your dongle directly from the FlightAware store.
Take a look at my Piaware DIY: A 100mm PVC pipe with cap for the RPi4 + XL4015. UTP cable (100% CAT5 copper) with ferrites and filter capacitors for frequency between 150KHz-180KHz (from XL4015),working as USB cable. Another 75mm PVC pipe for cavity filter + SDR with sink. Pipe with modified lid, as if it were a chimney to escape hot air. Pigtail: coaxial cable 34.2 cm (length corrected by the cable spread factor). All this powered by 12v PoE. It will be on a 25m high mast.
