Accuracy/Precision of GBAS

I was reading that EWR will become the FIRST major airport in the US to test “Ground-Based Augmentation System.” COA will outfit 15 of its’ aircraft with GBAS equipment along with training pilots.

How much more accurate would this system be compared to ILS?

How far down the road will it be before GBAS takes over fulltime? (CAT II/III)

I have noticed at the tail ends of 27/9, 26L/9R at IAH they have GPS Rx towers at the corner approach ends.

According to the second article they have tested it to one meter accuracy both horizontally and vertically. The time frame for CAT II and III seems to be dependent on the CAT I “real world” operational experience.
