This tail number belongs to a two-seater 'land' aircraft (AIR TRACTOR Fire Boss (single-turboprop) (AT8T/G) and it has been flying all over the planet. Last month it flew from Puerto Rico to Brazil and all of a sudden it departed Santa Maria, CA to Hawaii. Yesterday it arrived at Christmas Island and it is on its way for a 11+ hrs flight to Fiji Island!!!

Does anybody knows this aircraft and what it is doing? This is a single engine AC!

Thanks!

Getting to be fire season in Oz, maybe that's where it is headed.
Throw a couple of extra fuel tanks in and off you go. KSMX is a good jumping off point, you see light aircraft headed west a couple of times a month.

Hello All

The first time I noticed this aircraft (N8521E) was last month on September 13, 2010 when it departed from Aguadilla, PR (TJBQ,BQN) to Brazil!

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N852 ... /TJBQ/SBBV

This amazing flight took more than 7 hours, and interesting enough, it departed again from California a couple of days ago to Hilo (Christmas Island) and then filed a flight plan to Fuji. There are some missing flight plans since the aircraft appears in other airports without a continuous track.

I wonder what is under the hood of that Air Tractor and the additional instruments, because it seems it is a modified plane to be able to take on those extremely long flights across open water.

This is my favorite aircraft to follow, perhaps maybe it will go Diego Garcia island or Ascencion Island ...in the middle of nowhere!

Please reply if you have some more information about this Air Tractor AT8 plane, tail number N8521E/N8521W.

We should nominate it to Guinness World of records...

:D

The Air Tractor is an AG airplane with a PT6 turboprop engine with about 1,300 hp. It has a 800 gal hopper and fuel in the wings of about 250 gal. Useful load around 8,800 lbs. Ag operators in California and Texas like them for spraying LARGE areas of farm land.

If you figure a FireBoss carries 7350 lbs of fuel, with a fuel burn of 500 or 600 lbs an hour, endurance is somewhere between 12 and 15 hours at normal cruise. Imagine what it could do at long range cruise!

I put money on N8521E being a Factory Reg# used for delivery of new aircraft to foreign customers. This would allow the experienced factory ferry pilot w/ a US cert to fly the Aircraft outside US airspace for the delivery/ferry flight. Then a little bit of minor paperwork, pull off the temp Vinyl Reg# sticker and Airline home.

I was listening to JFK tower last night, and I heard Marine One come onto the frequency. President Obama was in Harlem last night for a charity dinner. It was pretty cool-however, I logged off before Air Force One took off.

It wasn't a charity dinner - it was fund raiser for the democratic party.

Thanks for the correction. I wasn't paying that close attention durring the CBS Evening News. All I heard was, Obama was in Harlem at some resturant.

Anybody know what the tail number is for Amanda Knox? Rumor was that one of the big TV/Production companies was flying her back private as part of a deal to get first interview rights. I don't see anything that stands out coming in to seattle.

White Knight 2 is on the move.

This is the aircraft that lifts the suborbital spacecraft Spaceship Two to altitude before launch. This trip takes it from home (Mojave) to Spaceport America near Truth Or Consequences, NM. Very interesting.

Found out why: dedication of a new facility

About 500 people - invited guests only - are expected to attend a Virgin Galactic-hosted event Monday at the spaceport to christen the $32.5-million terminal-hangar facility, a sting ray-looking structure often depicted in spaceport images.

Gov. Susana Martinez, Congressman Steve Pearce and NASA representatives are expected to attend the ceremony, called the "Keys to a New Dawn."
