IT is reasonably common for some operations to register a PORTA for PORTA type FPL with a short duration as a method to reserve the take off time without yet knowing the sortie duration. I notice that when the aircraft is airborne the tracking on FA seems to stop showing the aircraft icon on the map at the original duration and not the extended duration and shows the aircraft as Arrived.
The line on the map keeps tracking - but without the aircraft icon.
I assume that the FPL has had Change messages in the system and FA has not picked them up… but in any case if an aircraft is being being tracked should it not also have an icon on the map - even if the original arrival time has been passed?
