Leather is more temperature neutral than most man-made materials, long wearing, stain resistant, relatively non-absorbent, non-tacky in high humidity, general comfort.

Leather is "luxurious", smells good, wears well, is easy to clean, can be resurfaced fairly inexpensively if it is worn or stained, and the list goes on and on.

Thanks. I can see why it's used. My personal opinion is that cloth is more comfortable and less sticky in hot weather and less cold in cold weather.
