42 years old and still hauling freight!

Caught this one on my radar this afternoon. airport-data.com/aircraft/ph … 70996.html

Freight companies do seem to love the MD-11 and DC-10. They seem to be in a sweet spot of range/capacity/operating costs for cargo that they never got quite right for passenger operations.

When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight. https://youtu.be/31yxkSIIn9A

How about these DC9-10 series from the 1960s that I have picked up recently, which are still soldiering on?

When they don’t have passengers to break stuff or coffee to spill everywhere I guess they last longer

How do they get the really beautiful map interface @ flyingnut ?
So great :exclamation:

That is the basic Dump1090 google map that I ported over to my site and then modified. I wrote a Python program to send the Dump1090 messages from my RPi to my website and store them in a MySQL database. The modified map reads from the MySQL database. With extra database tables, I match the hexcodes to other data containing aircraft type, owner/operator, military/government etc. I also added weather overlays and VFR and IFR chart overlays. The aircraft lists at the top right show the aircraft that my RPi has observed, including one list that shows the military/government aircraft.

You’re a champion, Marty

Look what today I found flying over our cities (Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, and Niagra Falls):
Canadian Warplane Heritage Avro 683 Lancaster B.X C-GVRA.
They have fitted ADS-B Transponder in this WW2 plane, as it was picked up by ADS-B

saw a DC-3 in their markings at Geneseo Airshow at D52 last weekend

Look what I caught on my receiver:
A crazy pilot taxiing under influence of alcohol?
No it is an airport maintenance vehicle fitted with ADS-B transponder!

Do you have the hexcode for this aircraft? For four days this week in the Chicago area, the military was conducting exercises. Every evening the USAF had a U-28A/PC-12 from the 1st SOW airborne to support these exercies. I wonder if this PC-12 you saw was support some other exercise elsewhere.

No I dont have hexcode. I found it on FR24 of which I took a screenshot & posted above.

The strange thing is that this flight was not shown on my computer’s VRS plot and on my Planefinder datafeeder’s locally generated gmap.html, although this location is very close to my antenna, and all planes in this area are picked up by my antenna/receiver.
