Just a couple of interesting facts that I had growing up in Houston. My next door neighbor flew Jetstars for Exxon. They got rid of them and he started flying GIII's. A friend of my dad's flew Jetstars for Gulf Oil. From what I remember my dad telling me, he was in the cockpit getting ready for a flight and told the co-pilot he was not feeling good. The guy went to go get something for him to drink, and when he got back he was dead from a massive heart attack.

Can't remember, I think the Exxon Jetstars were N100A and N200A.

As for the Gulf Oil Jetstars - they had N105G, N106G, and N107G.

At YYZ (Skycharter) which was the Gulf FBO, they attempted to put N106G into the hangar - and smashed the tail on the bottom of the steel beam - of the hangar door!!! Oh well, we had insurance - plus it was the owner of Skycharter that did it. (Also nailed a Twin Otter on the same door).

N100A Jetstar 6 was converted to 731 and stored in Toluca Mexico after a heavy landing in 2006.

N200A Jetstar 8 1st Jetstar dash 8 scrapped 1987 as N4SX

N105G Jetstar 6 scrapped in 1996 as HZ-FNA

N106G Jetstar 6 was stored at FLL as N555SG

N107G Jetstar 6 scrapped in 1993 as N118BA

5215 being taken apart for transport to a classic car museum in Aventura.

(I sold the engines in 2009, this photo was early 2011.)

I keep forgetting to post an update on the sale by Kruse Intl of the Elvis Jetstar - it turns out Elvis owned two Jetstars - the one that was auctioned off was sold off by Elvis's dad in 1977 after Elvis's death.

It is s/n 5016 and was N4258P - apparently the new owner back in 77 took the engines off, and installed them on another Jetstar.

It sat in the Roswell Desert ever since. It was re-registered N712GW, and finally N440RM.

It was sold at auction to Eric Galka of Berlin, Wisconsin. No idea of the plans for the aircraft.

I worked at Skycharter at YYZ when Trans Canada Pipelines replaced their Gulfstream One, with used 5 year old Jetstar 8 C-GTCP s/n 5158 - they eventually replaced the Jetstar with a G2.

Aircraft these days is reported as stored in Mexico as XA-TDG since 2000.

N777EP is still at Graceland, where it has been since 1984 - nor was it for sale - seems a mix up in the press - as Elvis had two Jetstars (N440RM and N777EP).

Made a trip up to London-Luton on Thursday (June 16th) for an all-too rare visit of a Lockheed JetStar to the UK. N65JT sn 5213 arrived from it's new home at Lone Star, TX via Allegheny Co and Gander, Newfoundland.

OK - had a litttle time to update my recent detective work, and from my research, flight tracker reports, forum contacts and other misc info, here is what I reckon with regard to the Jetstars which remain either operational, or at least airworthy....

Those confirmed as currently operational - TOTAL 14

5083 - N198DL KFPR-KBZN 10/5/11
5086 - N313JS KSUA-KHPN-KBCT 29/6/11 Based at KSUA
5092 - VPCSM LGIR-LEMG 9/6/11 Based LEMG
5123 - N725MK KHWD-MMPR 30/4/11 Based at KHWD
5144 - 3908 Mexican AF reported flying operationally by my contacts at MMMX 4/11 Based MMMX
5205 - N72GW KICT-KLAS 28/6/11 Based at KICT
5213 - N65JT KBGR-KCXO 27/6/11 (pending reg change to N710RM) Based KCXO
5217 - 9GABF photographed at LFBO 1/11 - operational Based DGAA
5222 - N311RS KHOU-KFXE 11/3/11
5224 - N700RM KLGB-KCXO 22/5/11 Based at KCXO
5225 - N900DB KMDW-KSTL 20/6/11 - very active, probably flies the most amongst those left. Based at KMDW
5232 - N77C KBJC-KMKC 29/6/11 Based KMKC ?
5233 - XAEKT - this arrived a couple of weeks ago at KIAH, a local contact reports it's believed to be undergoing mx with Landmark Av.
5236 - STFSA Sudan Govt HSSS-LTBA 17/6/11 (Operator confirmed on FPL). Based HSSS

An Iranian AF Jetstar 2 was photographed flying at Tehran 9/10, but the s/n is unknown. Believed to be an ex-Iraqi airplane, so that would make 15.

The following are currently advertised for sale and are airworthy, but not currently flying on a regular basis, so probably another 4

5208 - N95BK for sale - located Greer, SC ? (last tracked flight KSDL-KGYH 31/1/07)
5211 - XAPWR for sale - this was noted and photographed by me at MMTO 13/6/11 in excellent condition and the local engineer confirmed it was still operational (NB advert says it's located at KFXE)
5219 - N800GD for sale, located in Waukesha, WI ?
5229 - N224MF for sale, located in Conroe, TX ? (last tracked flight KCXO-KSTL 29/11/10)

These were operational until quite recently but exact current status is unconfirmed

5098 - XATVK photographed at SADF 1/11 in very good condition - status ?
5099 - N18BH photographed at KEFD and KHOU 4/07 operational, reg cancelled 24/6/11 - reason ?
5201 - N777AY this was based at KFXE and was pretty active until last year, but last tracked flight was CYQX-LPAZ 20/7/10 - current location unknown
5207 - N34WR status ?
5227 - N375MD photographed at KOPF 1/11
5210 - N787WB status ?
5216 - N797WQ last tracked flight KVNY-KWJF 13/11/07 - reported AOG with a "significant problem"
5226 - TCSSS currently at LTBA, reported operational but no recent tracked flights
5230 - N275MD photographed at KOPF 12/10
5233 - HBJGK last known parked at LSGG 5/11 - status ?

If anyone can add to these details I would be most grateful.

Cheers

BethpageJet thanks for that great research!

Besides 3908 (mexican AF), do you know which of your list are still JetStar -8's or -6's? i'm courious if there are still some operating.

Sadly there are roumors that 3908 is going to be retired soon and replaced by some other VIP jet, hopefully it won't be scrapped or abandoned.

As far as i know XA-PWR is still operational and based at MMTO, i took this picture in january 2011 at the FBO after it flew, the aircraft, as you say, is in excellent condition. Not the best pic quality but hope it helps.

Regards!

Anyway heres some drawings I did a couple of years ago with the Jetstar amongst other other types with airline schemes...
sorry if images don't display. Blogspot has changed their viewing format. Thanks for lookiing~

Best,

It very difficult to see how good your pictures are considering the watermark just about obliterates the pictures!

Dear rw812

I do apologize for the watermarks and visual quality. I plan to update the sketches to larger size with a better watermark treatment. I've found my work traced line for line by other artists. I purposely put a few lines wrong somewhere to find if copyright is violated; and it has on several occasions.

Thank you for your comment.
