Brian Gates was a controller at Heathrow if I recall correctly, and has been publishing his book since 1971. They have it in book form, or CD.

It was recorded flying to Europe in January 2006 on FlightAware, it’s destination was Basle Switzerland.

I really don’t know why, but for some reason I did a Google search for Jet Commander Serial No. 118, and was eventually directed to this web page.
I flew this airplane from the time it left the factory in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1968, until sometime around 1983 or 84. It was originally registered as N438 and based at Andrau Airpark, in Houston, Texas. Later, we moved it to Houston Intercontinental Airport.
It really brings back many fond memories when I saw her picture posted on this website. It’s also good to know that she’s still flying, at least it was in the not too distant past according to reports on this page.
Noticed the pics of N696RV. I saw this aircraft on the far tarmac of Cairo International. Looks like it hasn’t been used or maintained in years! I have a pic of it from late 2012, but I can’t seem to get it posted here. I’ll try it a little different.

How’s that??, Flickr allows 200 free photos, once you go over the 200 (unless you pay) you only see the most recent of 200 photos posted. Also Flickr you just post the photo.
Photobucket, you get a certain amount of storage free per month, but the new improved photobucket has an edit that is similar to photoshop - but all free. Again if your posting lots of photos, then it becomes a paid service.
So I’d choose Photobucket to start - free, plus free editing.
Thanks for the tip…I’ll set that up this week. I may fly through Cairo again this week so I’ll see if that Aero is still there. Sad and a shame. I’m wondering if there’s some sort of “legal” trouble that company entered into that caused them to abandon that plane? I looked up the FAA registration and followed it to the old owner and he had a ton of aviation businesses in NV that have all dissolved. Looks like he’s now in PA. Interesting…
don’t break down in Cairo. We were there a couple of years ago, the airplane next to us needed an oxygen refill two weeks before that and were still waiting. I heard of another airplane needing an engine change and it took something like 4 or 5 months, they had to import everything to get the job done. Apparently Egyptair has no authority to help out.
They are a funny airport! We fly medevac and we always have a substantial delay there! Even if we are patient loaded! In fact, we had so many delays there that we started refueling in Malta or Cyprus a lot more in order to avoid them. That doesn’t even take in to account that runway 23 (I think that’s the one) just about beats the gear off our jet every time we have to use it! I enjoyed flying over the great pyramids (got a couple of pics of those, too), but unfortunately, that’s as close as I’ve gotten to them! I’m waiting on those guys to simmer down before I take a personal trip to the Giza!
yup, use of a follow me truck is mandatory for non-airline flights, in AND out. We started calling for taxi 3 or 4 minutes before we are ready, that seems to be about right. 5L/23R is rough as hell, the old 5R is not much better, haven’t used the new runway yet. The old crosswind runway is normally used as a taxiway now, it’s the worst of all the pavement there. Be prepared to drop your pax then reposition if you are there for more than an hour. With the follow me of course.
The old Alexandria airport is not a bad fuel stop, the runway is a bit short during the summer though. Pavement is right up to old USSR standards. In other words built by the Soviets when all of their aircraft had at least 45 inch tires pumped up to 9 PSI.
I’m sitting here about to pee my pants! That’s funny stuff! When I first rode runway 23, I thought to myself “Wow…I guess they still haven’t patched this runway since the Israeli’s were last here!” That wasn’t very nice of me! Oh well…gotta have fun when you can!
