I can remeber the early seventies when air new zealand had DC8'S DC10'S before the Boeing 747's replaced them why are they using the same rego's again for there new B789's the only ones i have not seen are ZK-NZB ZK-NZP these were deleted due to incidents or written off. But ZK-NZA was a rego for there DC8 have not seen it. The next B789 is ZK-NZL anyone care to answer this

Why not? Registrations, car, airplane, boat, are cancelled and put back in the pile to be used again all the time.

The reason behind this is some aircraft which are involved in accidents or fatalities have these registration cancelled eg: ZK-NZP DC10-30 1979 ZK-NZB DC 8 -52 1966 at NZAA lost on training accident. The smae with American airlines when there aircraft are destroyed written off never to be used again.

Never herd of this from the FAA where did you drag that up from

Easy look up the website of FAA and search if no success try sending them the question it will get answered for you

The best results is to go to the airline's website search look up there history of there past and present fleet to see or better still google it example ZK-NZP which was one of there DC10-30 aircraft destroyed in 1979. It offers alternative sites to look up rego's Have a go :roll:
