Does wind direction determine The Flight pattern at airports

Ive notice that wind direction determines the flight patterns at Airports

Of course it does, didn’t you ever hear of planes taking off and landing into the wind?

oh okay i was just curious so now i know

Yes.
The reason is taking off or landing into the wind shortens the runway required. The wing only cares about the speed it is traveling through the air, more speed = more lift, eventually enough to go fly. Picture this, a 10 knot wind blowing down the runway. You taxi out onto the runway and stop but with your tail towards the wind. As far as the wing is concerned it is going backwards 10 knots. Turn around and the wing is already going 10 knots even though you are sitting still on the asphalt.

Eat the carrot!!!
