What is Venus97

I’ve been seeing this one today - Venus97 (ae4aea) without a position fix, although fa dump seems to think its a 757.

Am I receiving the transponder correctly? Any idea what their aircraft is?

In your dump1090 output screen when you are viewing that, you can click on the ae4aea – and it’ll look it up at airframes.org.

Looks like a USAF 757

Mike

From airframes.org for AE4AEA:
09-0017 - Boeing 757-28A - 26272/594 - US Air Force (USAF)

Typically, Venus callsign is assigned to VIP flights. It’s the 99th AS out of Andrews

Wikipedia says 1st AS if it’s a C-32 (757); 99th AS does the Gulfstreams.

Thanks - KCRW often has executive fleet 757 do touch and go’s, about once a month. Didn’t have location/speed, but given the RSSI compared to other aircraft, it had to be close to the receiver (relatively). I didn’t know about airframe.org - thanks again!
