Updating Pi-Aware software behind corporate firewall.

I have an issue with Auto and Manual update of the Pi-Aware software on OSUH8 Site 11414. Although it is set to Auto Update, the download of the new file fails to occur. I’m sure this is due to the corporate firewall on the internet connection.

With FlightAware looking for the MAC address of the unit, which of the two options would be better to try to perform the update?

Load the new software to a SD card and just swap them out when updates are due?

Or

Take the unit home to connect to my internet and perform the update there? My concern with this option is Flight Aware recognizing the MAC address through a different IP address and provider.

Thanks for any input you may provide!

The MAC address is burned into the ethernet port of the Pi and will not change if you operate it on a different network and IP address. I think you are OK to take the unit home and try the update from there.

Yeah, either option works.

Ok! I’ll try the take home method and report on any difficulties!

Thanks for the replies!
