Well all my sites dropped the reporting badly since the new page implementation.
Since all my 6 sites are doing the same I assume is not me but FA. Right?

Regards

Sorry, I don't care for it in the least. Not only that, somehow preferences were reset when it comes to preventing auto update and email notifications and saving new settings doesn't seem to stick. Since I compile and install myself, I'll be (more than) slightly upset if the system decided to flip a switch on me and decide on it's own to auto-update. Bleeding edge is not my cup of tea.

The log is near impossible to read since the popup box is not resizable/configurable. It's a pain to flip between multiple sites. Just a few of the things I noticed so far. I guess old dogs and new tricks don't always mesh too well. I'd prefer a method to view the old style if possible - if it is already possible I missed it the eye-popping mess. :(

No disrespect meant, just being honest. Would rather see more time spent on UAT or enhanced packet buffering to better aid packet collisions or something else (I realize UAT doesn't help anyone outside of the US).

EDIT: Just noticed settings wont stick at all - automatically defaults to showing full name, auto update, email notifications etc. That's a problem.

My android phone's default browser no good. Same problem as you are facing.

I then tried this:
Firefox for android -> Request Desktop Site-> Good!!!

- If you drop down the menu for PIAWARE commands in the configure little window and if you close it (the window) by clicking the little cross, while letting the drop-down open, the menu stays active, alone, in the middle of the main page (FireFox, PC).

- When there is an anomaly, you cannot see the configure button on the main page, hidden by "view anomalies".

@abcd567

The screenshots I provided earlier were taken with "Request desktop site" already selected in Chrome.

So that option changes nothing for me.

Nice try though.

Its an obvious "streamlined", "new", "awesome" design that doesn't have "Desktop" or "Mobile" options anywhere actually on the web page to change the display type.

"It's a 1-size-doesn't-really-fit-all page that looks "totally cool" and "hip" and "new-age" and "sleek" so we're keeping it (even though it totally screws functionality and ease of information display but shhhhh.... on that).
Just keep pointing out how cool and sleek it looks. Those sticks-in-the-mud we can just fob off and ignore till they stop." -is what I'm getting from this so far.

Basically "It worked before but we've changed it. Now it doesn't. Just deal with it."

To all involved

Just simply look at this:
Image
The information displayed now.

Verses this:
Image
A screenshot I took in March.

Both captured on the same device, using the same browser (and "Request desktop site" selected).

In the second, if I chose to, I could zoom in on something for a closer look or have an overview of almost everything. Something impossible to do now.

Still seriously trying to tell me the new version is an upgrade? If so please explain exactly how it is.

There was no change made to the data collection side.

So not sure if this has been noticed by anyone else or if this is even affecting anyone else, but my control panel won't keep settings that I have saved. Right now it appears that its trying to display both username and actual name, and allow auto updating. Even after I change these settings, press save, exit the window, then refresh, the settings appear to revert to their old settings. I am not sure if the settings are actually saved and the window is displaying wrong information, or if the information is not saving and actually reverting. Anyone else notice this?

There used to be sorting by country in the Top users section of the Stats page. Now I do not seem to find it.

hi

i think -aesthetically speaking- tabulations for 'positions reported' should be on the same level as 'aircraft reported' and the polar plot container should be somewhat smaller.

best regards

Well...it looks very Fisher Price to me. I let my 7 year old have a peek. She called it "pretty". I guess I prefer "elegant". Sorry to throw a turd in your punchbowl. The new page is loud, low resolution, and a clunk piece on all of my devices. Perhaps a "Classic" button can be offered to revert to the legacy page for those of us that prefer function over form.

I like it. Well done and good to keep up with rivals as radarbox24 just joined the raspberry pi feed frenzy.

Highest 30 Day Ranking cannot be correct, at least in my case.

The YouTube video states this number is the highest you've ever achieved whereas the label states it is the highest ranking in the last 30 days. If either is to be believed then in my case the former is correct. Many new sites have come online since I reached a position that high.

Thanks for the feedback. With any big change like this, some bugs have slipped through. We'll be making some additional tweaks and fixes soon.

Summary:
- Use better contrast on text.
- Reduce padding.
- Increase font size.
- For the "Positions Reported by Distance from Receiver" graph, I prefer the color-coded heat map over the monochrome blue-ish.

The following CSS changes are not perfect, but get me closer to what I prefer:
Code:
51d6214af-flightaware.css:
   body a:link,.linkBlue
   {
      color:#0000FF
   }
   body a:visited
   {
      color:#8000ff
   }
   table
   {
      border-collapse:collapse;
      font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;
      font-size:14px;border:0;padding:0
   }
user_stats.css:
   .smallrow1
   {
      color:#000000
   }
   .smallrow2
   {
      background-color:#FDF2E6 !important;
      color:#000000
   }
   .contentBox
   {
      padding:0;
      font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;
      font-size:14px;
      text-align:left;
      line-height:17px;
      color:#000000
   }
   .positionTable .positionTableCell
      {
         width:7.5%;
         box-sizing:border-box;
         flex-grow:1;
         padding: 0 0.3em;
         overflow:hidden;
         list-style:none;
         border-bottom:solid 1px #DDDDDD
      }
   .nearbyTable .nearbyTableCell
   {
      width:11.111%;
      box-sizing:border-box;
      flex-grow:1;
      padding:0;
      overflow:hidden;
      list-style:none;
      border-bottom:solid 1px #DDDDDD
   }
datatables.min.css:
   table.dataTable thead th,table.dataTable thead td
   {
      padding:0;
      border-bottom:1px solid #111
   }
   table.dataTable tbody th,table.dataTable tbody td
   {
      padding:0

The Control Panel I see after clicking the "gear" icon on the Site bar in Firefox, Chrome, Edge or Safari (on a Mac and iPad) does not have the Device Commands section. I find it difficult to believe that all of those browsers/platforms have a problem with the new page. Is there perhaps a setting in my Pi installation that is suppressing that section of the panel?

FWIW, I do have auto-update explicitly disabled in my configuration

Some of the changes are a little confusing to me but I think some of it stems from some things being UTC and some on local time. I am sure the kinks will get worked out.

classic example of PowerPoint syndrome - over interpreting data.

Only significant improvement is the extended history.

So far I'm liking the new design. Not sure if it's related or just a coincidence but even though the log shows my site sending is data to FA (and aircraft showing up on the map) my stats page is saying nothing received in almost 10 hours.

Nice looking page but I'm reporting a possible bug report within it.

Configuration Settings:
Auto-update PiAware software - Constantly defaults to "Allow". You try to enable "Prevent" but on reloading the page, it is back to "Allow" again.

I do not want Automatic updating allowed. I wish to update my Pi as and when I wish.

Thanks :-)

Of course since I posted about stats not updating things started working fine 30 minutes later. After looking at the redesigned page I have comments suggestions.

1. Put the last seen/last ckeck-in in the same place preferably under site information.

2. What happened to current uptime streak? It shows the longest (but not the date range like before) but not your current streak and when it started,
