I am receiving the error message: Problem fetching data from dump1090. AJAX call failed (timeout: timeout). Maybe dump1090 is no longer running? The displayed map data will be out date.

I tried to fix the issue by reinstalling the PiAware software. I downloaded PiAware on Raspbian Linux 3.3.0 and used Etcher to install the image.

The Raspberry Pi 3 is connected via WiFi.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks..

I decided to try connecting an ethernet cable to see if the issue might be with WiFi and that has fixed the problem. I've been running the Pi 3 for over a year on WiFi so I'm not sure why its a problem now.

Generally ajax errors mean that either:

1) the IP assigned to your piaware has changed and you are still using the old IP and your browser has the static content cached; or
2) your piaware has entirely lost network connectivity and your browser has the static content cached;
3) dump1090 has halted because you have a hardware problem with your dongle.

If you are running a recent piaware sdcard image then you can connect a HDMI monitor and the console will show some network & dump1090 status information.

I started to experience the same sort of latency error "AJAX call failed (timeout: timeout)" after raising my antenna and now getting up to 300 "Total Aircraft" on the PiAware Skyview map. I too am running on Pi in wireless mode on 3.5 PiAware, and will try to switch to a hardwired Ethernet cable to see if it resolves the issue. Not sure if the source of the latency is on the WiFi network (a heavily shared resource), but my statistics on flightaware.com seem to be updating just fine. The Skyview map does update, albeit slowly, and only after a few AJAX errors are displayed.
