I am pretty new to this and i want better coverage. I need to mount my antenna on my roof but i would rather not put my pi up there, i cannot find a cable to use for this. Should i put the sdr up there and use a usb extension cable or just the antenna with coxial cable, if so what type of cables i need about 20 feet. here are pics imgur.com/a/pvl7Q
Antenna and Dongle specs would help.
The Antenna pic indicates an N connector.
LMR240 or LMR400 coax should be fine.
It depends on your budget. LMR400 is better but thicker and less flexible.
Thank you for the reply! The last part of that connector is not correct, I believe it is a sma female. here is the sdr i am using currently amazon.com/NooElec-NESDR-Mi … ds=rtl+sdr
That depends on the pigtail you use from the Dongle to the Filter.
This should work:
DHT Electronics RF coaxial coax cable assembly SMA female to MCX male right angle 6’’
For only 20 feet, many of us use ordinary RG-6 because it is quite inexpensive, and for that short a distance the loss is low at 1090MHz. …just an idea,
The connectors are good but i need a longer cable, any ideas. Amazon seems to not carry any

Here’s what I used (attached to Flightaware antenna 18ft up, with good view of horizon) and I am seeing out to 260 miles:
