MLAT not working

Had an exciting weekend setting up my kit and getting into Raspberry etc. I’m able to see ADSB and my feed is working ok. I’ve set up my location etc. However, I don’t seem to be getting any MLAT results. When I check the log I get the following:

[2017-02-13 16:54 NZDT] 168051 msgs recv’d from dump1090-fa (337 in last 5m); 168037 msgs sent to FlightAware
[2017-02-13 16:55 NZDT] mlat-client(1111): Receiver status: connected
[2017-02-13 16:55 NZDT] mlat-client(1111): Server status: synchronized with 3 nearby receivers
[2017-02-13 16:55 NZDT] mlat-client(1111): Receiver: 12.6 msg/s received 5.5 msg/s processed (44%)
[2017-02-13 16:55 NZDT] mlat-client(1111): Server: 0.0 kB/s from server 0.0kB/s TCP to server 0.1kB/s UDP to server
[2017-02-13 16:55 NZDT] mlat-client(1111): Aircraft: 1 of 3 Mode S, 2 of 2 ADS-B used

From some of the other logs I can see there is an extra line with “results”, but mine does not seem to be doing this. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong, or is there a setting I need to change somewhere?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not quite enough coverage down south. You’ve got a group of 4 receivers; you need at least 5 for mlat to start working.

Theoretically you can get away with 3 receivers plus a transponder altitude (that is a solution with zero degrees of freedom), but the result quality is pretty terrible. The FA mlat servers require 2 degrees of freedom before they start tracking.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully someone will add another receiver sometime soon!

Maybe make a new post instead of reviving a 6 year old one

Some logs would come in handy to analyse, can’t do much with the info posted.
