I recently found out about TIS-B messages. If you are in range of a TIS-B ground station, you can see traffic that should be beyond what your receiver can see. Check out these aircraft I picked up in Houston from Austin. Obviously, there’s no way I could actually receive messages from aircraft at the terminals at IAH from Austin. These are surely TIS-B messages. They’re interesting to watch, because they pop up all at the same time, then usually disappear after a minute.
