I’m in New Mexico, one of the places indicated as needing more ADS-B receivers. I just ordered all the parts for the piaware device. My question is where I should put it. The choices are on the hangar at SAF, lower elevation but centrally located in a valley with good line-of-sight in most directions. At the house the internet connection is faster and I am 700 feet higher elevation. But, I’m closer to the mountains so the line-of-sight to the east will be a little more limited.
Or, maybe it doesn’t matter?
internet speed is no factor. the clearest view of the horizon/sky while having a short run from antenna to the pi is the general rule of thumb. up next to a mountain you only have line of sight.
